Historic Old St. John’s Church offers Red Mass
UTICA — Historic Old St. John’s Church, 240 Bleecker St., will host its annual Red Mass for lawyers, judges and elected officials at 12:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3.
The Most Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, bishop of Syracuse, will preside the Mass.
The Red Mass is celebrated each fall throughout the U.S. on the first Monday in October, which marks the traditional start of the judicial year. Lawyers, judges and elected officials of several faiths gather to seek divine guidance for the conduct of the legal profession and the administration of justice.
The most famous Red Mass is celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C.
