UTICA — A Utica man faces multiple charges after allegedly bringing a handgun to a confrontation on Churchill Avenue early Monday morning, according to the Utica Police Department.

Police said Oscar Boykin, 40, confronted an acquaintance at their residence in the 900 block of Churchill Avenue early Monday and started an argument. Police said Boykin pulled out a handgun and threatened the other person with it, then started to break things inside their home, including a table and a television set.

The resident called 911 and Boykin fled, authorities stated. He was located a short distance away, and police said they also found the discarded handgun.

Boykin is charged with one count each of third-degree possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree mischief, police stated. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
