Hamilton College's playoff run ends in shutout loss
The Hamilton College women's ice hockey postseason ended Friday night in a 2-0 loss against host Amherst College in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Hamilton was outshot by a 31-18 margin.
After a scoreless first period, the Amherst offense finally solved Hamilton goalie Evie Sheridan nine seconds into the second period on a goal by Maeve Reynolds.
The Mammoths' leading scorer, Rylee Glennon, sealed the win with an empty net goal with 1:22 left in regulation.
Sheridan had 29 saves for Hamilton.
Amherst goalie Natalie Stott stopped all 18 shots she faced to earn the win. The Mammoths have shut out their opponent in seven of the last eight games, including all five postseason contests.
The Continentals end the season 22-6-2.
