Graduates of Corrections Officer Academy lauded at ceremony
UTICA — Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol honored the graduating class of the 2022-02 Corrections Officer Academy during a ceremony Monday at the Mohawk Valley Police Academy at Mohawk Valley Community College.
The Sheriff’s Office conducts their corrections training alongside the Mohawk Valley Police Academy located at MVCC. The Corrections Academy consists of classroom learning, practical exercises, physical fitness training and military drills.
Oneida County Sheriff’s Office extends invitations to the neighboring counties that have officers in need of their basic training. The 12 recruits represented the Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison County Sheriff’s Offices.
As part of the ceremony, Sheriff Maciol pinned the badges on the Oneida County graduates, Sheriff Scott Scherer pinned the Herkimer County graduates, and Sheriff Todd Hood pinned the Madison County graduate respectively.
