GPO Credit Union breaks ground on new branch

GPO Federal Credit Union broke ground on Wednesday at its newest location, 1701 N. James St.

Expected to open this fall, the new full-service branch with a drive-thru ATM will offer an array of loan and deposit products while a new conference room will host the credit union’s free financial education workshops and financial counseling sessions.

“To GPO, expanding our footprint/membership is more than just business; it is a committment to improve the financial lives of our members and community by providing the best financial solutions and exceptional experiences, as well as employ local professional experts who will be there to help you achieve your financial goals,” said Nick Mayhew, GPO Federal Credit Union president and CEO.

“We are excited to expand into Rome and offer our financial resources and support to this great community,” the GPO president and CEO added.

Supportng the local community is an area of great importance for GPO, Mayhew added. During the ground-breaking ceremony, GPO demonstrated its support of the community by giving an unrestricted donation of $5,000 to Rome Health.

GPO Federal Credit Union was founded in 1931, and now serves more than 33,000 members by offering a full-range of financial services.

GPO is headquartered in New Hartford and has branches in New Hartford, Utica, Oneida, Ilion, Dolgeville and Barneveld.
