Garage was destroyed by fire in Kirkland
KIRKLAND — No one was injured when a commercial garage on Route 5 in Kirkland was destroyed by a fire very early Wednesday morning, according to the Clark Mills Fire Department.
Clark Mills Fire Chief Gary Spaven said the alarm was raised shortly after midnight Wednesday for a garage fire on Route 5, just east of Clinton Street. Spaven said volunteers from three local departments responded to the scene and knocked down the flames in about 20 minutes.
The garage was part of a business lot and was not attached to any other buildings, the chief stated. The garage is a total loss. He said the property owner did not have insurance. The chief said the garage was used for storage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Spaven stated.
The Clark Mills, Clinton and Westmoreland fire departments responded.
