Four new deaths from COVID in Oneida County


Across the state on Monday, there were 34 virus-related deaths and on Tuesday there were 2,203 new virus cases since the last report on Monday.

Drilling down in the numbers, in Oneida County, there were 43 new cases of the virus and four new virus-related deaths, according to data.

According to the figures reported by Oneida County, there are also 43 county residents in the hospital with COVID-19. Of the 43 local hospitalizations, 23 are being treated at Mohawk Valley Health System facilities and 14 are at Rome Health; six are being treated outside of Oneida County.

Of those in the hospital,14 are under the age of 60 with 10 of them unvaccinated; there are 29 hospitalizations of individuals over the age of 60. Of the 29, 19 are unvaccinated and 10 are vaccinated.

The positivity rate for Oneida County has continued its recent trend of slow, steady declines. The positivity rate, released on Tuesday, was 2.9%, according to the county statistics.

There are currently 705 active cases, county officials added, with 1,263 individuals in mandatory isolation or quarantine.

There have been 27,639 cases of COVID-19 and 502 virus-related deaths since counting began in the spring of 2020.

Tuesday, there were 705 active cases of the pandemic virus in the county, and 43 people were hospitalized.
