BROOKFIELD — An underage drinking party in Charles Baker State Forest in Madison County was broken up by forest rangers, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

Authorities said a line of 13 vehicles, including three pickup trucks loaded with pallets, was stopped entering the forest on April 22.

The authorities added that the people in the vehicles admitted that they were going to have a party in the woods.

The forest rangers stopped about 30 people ranging in age from 15 to 19, they reported.

One 18-year-old from Norwich, Chenango County, was ticketed for underage possession of alcohol after he was found with three cases of beer, authorities stated.

Forest rangers said they notified the parents of the minors and ensured that none of the drivers were impaired before clearing the scene.
