Foot pursuit in Rome caps off robbery arrest
ROME — Accused of stealing from his ex-wife, a 44-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday following a foot pursuit in the city, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said the ex-wife pulled into work at West Liberty and North Washington streets at about 10 a.m. Monday when Francis Joslyn, 44, of Ava, came out of her place of employment. Police said Joslyn got into his ex-wife’s vehicle and tried to steal her backpack.
The two fought over the backpack until Joslyn took it and stole cash out of the bag, police said.
Joslyn fled the scene and the victim called 911. Officers responded to the area and authorities said Joslyn refused to stop. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit, and police said he struggled with the officers while being placed in handcuffs.
Joslyn is charged with one count each of third-degree robbery and resisting arrest, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
