ROME — A free food giveaway, sponsored by the Project Fibonacci Foundation, the Food Bank of Central New York and St. John the Baptist Church, will take place in the church parking lot, 210 E. Dominick St., starting at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, with food boxes provided by the Food Bank of CNY. The event will end when supplies are depleted, organizers said.

The event is part of a series of food giveaways scheduled for the second Friday of each month at the church.

Drivers should enter the church parking lot from Bouck Street, across from Ace Hardware, organizers said. Pickup is contactless and items will be placed in cars by volunteers. Walkers are also welcome, and walkers will be directed to a pick up location upon arrival, organizers added.

In order to plan for future distributions, volunteers will request name and information about household recipients.
