We live in stories. Stories are the language of our world. Stories are the most powerful form of communication we have. Stories speak to the mind, the body, and the emotions – our spirits. Our brain is wired in such a way when we hear, watch, or tell a story it places us in the story.
Everyone has a story to tell, and ALL of us are storytellers. All of us have a story to tell of 2020. All our stories have something in common and I know we would all come to the same conclusion. There is something wrong in the world we live in.
Did you know life wasn’t always this way? The Bible says in Genesis, in the beginning, when God created the Heavens and the Earth, He created man and woman and life was perfect. Everything worked the way God intended it to. I can’t even fathom that idea!
Part of this perfection was walking with God in the cool of the day. Everything with their relationship was perfect.
There is ONE WORD to describe this in Hebrew language, that word is SHALOM. We know it as PEACE, it is complete peace (Body, Soul, Mind, Environment, Relationships, God and Adam/Eve).
Are you at peace this COVID Christmas season?
The story did not remain like this. In this amazing story we see an epic tragedy. This is where Adam and Eve make a huge mistake — they decide to rebel against God and take life into their own hands. When they sinned, there was no longer peace. Let us welcome sin into the story. With sin comes death, broken, abuse, hardships, fear, loss, sickness and pandemics. Can you relate?
You know the worst part? Adam and Eve’s perfect peace was broken with God. Their relationship was broken. God made them leave the garden. The Bible says that we all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.
This is how the Christmas story changes everything. God made a way back, we can peace with Him. Isaiah 9:6 says “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Did you catch that? Jesus who came as a baby came as the Prince of Peace.
If you are looking for peace, it begins with Jesus. God sent Him into the world as the Prince of Peace. Jesus came to restore our relationship with God by dying on the cross and rising again (ultimate peace) and for those who follow Jesus, He lives in them and no matter what storms we are in we can be at peace! Peace is available to you, but it is only found in Jesus!
