HERKIMER — An Ilion man was found with a felony amount of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Herkimer, according to the Herkimer Police Department.
Police said Jack Styles, 36, was pulled over in the 400 block of N. Main Street on Feb. 15 and a female passenger immediately got out of the vehicle and fled into a nearby residence. Police said Styles and his vehicle were searched, and officers found nearly 20 grams of meth, several hypodermic needles and nearly $500 in cash.
Following an investigation, a warrant was issued for Styles and he was taken into custody on Monday and charged with one count each of: third-degree possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree use of drug paraphernalia, police said.
He was arraigned in court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to reappear in court.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges were possible.
