CLINTON — The Fair Trade Shop at Stone Presbyterian Church, 8 S. Park Row, is featuring organic cotton sport crew socks from Maggie’s Organics during the month of January.

Maggie’s Organics are designed for active cyclists and joggers, featuring a lightweight top and cushioned bottom. Makers promise the socks will stay in place and keep your feet dry and cool.

The shop’s Organic Wool Urban Trail Crew socks and Urban Hiker Ankle socks promise to be ideal for everyone’s workout, from park to pavement. They are close-to-the-foot, with a stay-in-place fit, soft cushioned, thin and breathable. The organically-grown cotton and wool come from small farmers in the U.S., Argentina, Peru, Tanzania and India. Mexican immigrants and native Alabama workers work side-by-side to produce the quality socks offered by the Maggie’s label. These and other handcrafted products from 38 different countrie, are available at the shop.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday and second Saturdays. Purchasing fair trade items ensures artisans and small farmers fair wages and healthy working conditions, providing dignity, sustainable development and hope to marginalized people.
