Fair Trade Shop offers Lucky Gnomes for March
CLINTON — St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in more countries around the world than any other single-day national festival, and the Fair Trade Shop at Stone Presbyterian Church, 8 S. Park Row, recognizing the occasion by offering a variety of themed gifts during the month of March.
The shop’s felted wool Lucky Gnomes from Guatemala are wee fellows that are meant to bring luck to your home and a smile to your face year round. They have a string for hanging, but they like to sit on a shelf, too.
A mystical, magical felted wool unicorn has a gentle smile, a golden horn and a fluffy, tri-colored mane and tail. It’s hand-crafted by artisans in Guatemala also. Legend has it that unicorns have magical powers to heal sickness and to render poisoned water potable. These and several other uniquely-handcrafted gift items from 38 different countries can be found at the Fair Trade Shop.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday and second Saturdays. Purchasing fair trade items ensures artisans and small farmers fair wages and healthy working conditions, providing dignity, sustainable development and hope for marginalized people.
