Easter Food Drive to benefit Rome Rescue Mission
ROME — Third Ward Councilor Kimberly Rogers and Common Council President Stephanie Viscelli have partnered with DeSalvo’s Catering and Restaurant to hold an Easter Food Drive to benefit Rome Rescue Mission.
Donations will be taken on Saturday, April 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at DeSalvo’s, 413 N. James St. Those wishing to donate are asked to pull up their vehicles, and a volunteer will take donations from the vehicles.
The councilors have teamed up again to help the Rome Rescue Mission provide Easter meals to those in need.
“We want to thank DeSalvo’s for participating in our event as a drop-off location,” said Rogers. “The Rome Rescue Mission is in great need of donations to provide over 600 meals on Easter Sunday. We’ve had tremendous support from the community in the past, and we’re looking forward to helping the mission again this year.”
Viscelli said Rome is fortunate to have small businesses help in providing community events. Christina and David Benn had previously hosted the food drive at The Mill on East Dominick Street. After the sale of their business, they needed a new drop-off location.
“When we reached out to Rich DeSalvo to provide us with a new location, he was more than happy to help,” Viscelli said. “The community was so generous in their giving in our past drive and I am confident they will be again. An event like this really shows Rome’s heart and how we take care of each other.”
A special request is made for hams, roast beef, salad ingredients, fresh vegetables, potatoes, fresh vegetables, butter, coffee, creamer, orange and apple juice, muffins, chips and dip, cheese and crackers, eggs, bacon, milk and desserts. Monetary donations will also be accepted at the event or neighbors can donate online at RomeMission.org.
