SULLIVAN — A Wayne County man was charged with drunken driving on the Thruway in Madison County Sunday night — with two DWI convictions already on his record, according to the New York State Police.

Troopers said Richie A. Stokes Jr., 34, of Clyde, was pulled over for a traffic violation at 10:45 p.m. Sunday while passing through the Town of Sullivan on the Thruway. Troopers said Stokes registered a blood alcohol content of 0.14% and was driving on a revoked, non-driver ID.

Stokes also had two prior DWI convictions on his record within the past decade, troopers said, and was not driving with the court-required interlock device.

Due to the previous convictions, troopers said Stokes was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and felony driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or greater, along with felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and other vehicle and traffic violations.

Stokes was released on an appearance ticket to Sullivan Town Court.
