PARIS — A Utica woman was hospitalized after her SUV crashed on an icy Route 12 Saturday morning, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies said the woman, whose identity was not released, was northbound on Route 12 around 11 a.m. Saturday when she lost control of her Toyota SUV on the slippery pavement near Burmaster Road. Deputies said the SUV went off the west shoulder of the road and struck a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn.

A passerby stopped and helped free the woman from her vehicle. Deputies said she complained of pain and was treated at a Utica hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
