MARCY — John Reed, a driver for the Walmart Distribution Center at 8827 Old River Road, has celebrated three million safe miles.

As Reed came into the Distribution Center from Lockport with a State Police escort in tow, the driver was greeted by family, friends, and coworkers who wanted to celebrate the achievement.

Reed started driving for Walmart Distribution Center in 1994.

The average Walmart driver averages around 100,000 miles a year. Officials said Reed has accumulated three million safe miles in 28 years.

Despite heavy traffic and distractions on the highways, Reed has managed to drive these three million miles without incident — an occasion that deserved a party and cake to celebrate, officials said.

“At Walmart, the highest value is placed on safety,” Walmart officials wrote.

“Reed is a driver that embodies safety, pride, and professionalism.”
