Dollar General busted in underage drinking sting by state police
SYLVAN BEACH — A Sylvan Beach teenager was charged for selling alcohol to a minor while working at the Dollar General on Main Street, according to the New York State Police.
Troopers said an underage drinking sting operation was conducted in Oneida County on Oct. 28, hitting more than a dozen convenience and liquor stores in the northwest corner of the county. They visited shops in Lee, Camden, Taberg, Blossvale and Vienna, sending underage buyers into the stores to see if the clerks would sell them alcohol.
Sixteen out of the 17 stores tested did not sell alcohol to minors.
Dakota D. Gabruk, 19, of Sylvan Beach, allegedly sold alcohol while working at the Dollar General on Main Street in Sylvan Beach, troopers said. He was charged with one count each of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibitive sale of alcohol, authorities stated. He is scheduled to appear in Sylvan Beach Village court.
