Dog involved in Paris crash missing

TOWN OF PARIS — A black Labrador named “Piper” is missing after being involved in a motor vehicle accident on Route 12 Wednesday. Sheriff’s deputies said Michael Merriman was northbound on Route 12 at about 4:25 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle in the rainy conditions. Deputies said Merriman was traveling at an unsafe speed and his vehicle began to hydroplane near Fountain Street.

The vehicle went off the west shoulder and rolled over, authorities said. Piper became lost in the crash and authorities suspect the dog may still be in the area.

Merriman was treated at the scene by rescue personnel and was treated for a small cut on his head. Piper is a black Labrador with a small white patch on the chest. Anyone who finds the dog is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 315-736-0141.
