Deputies charge clerk in alcohol sting

CHITTENANGO — A Madison County store clerk has been charged with selling alcohol to a person underage during a sting operation on Saturday.

Sheriff’s deputies said they visited 25 grocery stories, convenience stores and liquor stores across Madison County on Saturday as part of a sting operation for sales to underage buyers. Of the locations visited, authorities said 24 out of the 25 turned the underage buyer away.

Deputies said Nathan D. Wilsey, 18, of Chittenango, was working at Lakeport Market on Route 5 and sold alcohol to the underage agent working for the sting operation. Wilsey is charged with one count of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child.

He is scheduled to appear in court, authorities said.
