CVA’s O’Neal named TVL Pioneer boys basketball player of the year

Jaylon O’Neal of Central Valley Academy has been named the Tri-Valley League Pioneer Division boys basketball player of the year.

O’Neal, a senior, scored 469 points (20.4 points per game), had 160 rebounds and 127 assists with 86 steals.

CVA was 22-1 this season and won the division with an 8-0 divisional record. The Thunder lost in the semifinals of the Section III Class B tournament. That success earned CVA head coach Luke Judd coach of the year honors.

The first team in the division is CVA’s Deacon Judd; Camden’s Ryan Leos and Connor Dean; Oneida’s Austin DeGroat; Holland Patent’s Nick Acevedo; and Eliijah Donegan of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill.

The second team members are: CVA’s CJ Judd and TJ Luke; HP’s Jeffery Dewar; and Christian Babiarz and Jamari MAssey of Notre Dame.

Earning honorable mention status were Oneida’s Kannon Curro and Camden’s Isaac Lynch.
