Cruelty to animals, obscenity among state police arrests

The New York State Police announced the following recent arrests in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties:

• A 17-year-old from Hubbardsville was charged in Brookfield on Sept. 15 with fourth-degree mischief. 

• Martin P. Monk, 60, of Fort Plain, was charged in Stark on Sept. 14 with third-degree trespass, resisting arrest and two counts of second-degree contempt. Monk was also charged on Sept. 12 in Stark with two counts of third-degree trespass and four counts of second-degree contempt. 

• Kiel M. Anderson, 34, of Newport, was charged in Norway on Sept. 14 with second-degree menacing and third-degree possession of a weapon. 

• Matthew E. Meeks, 36, of Westernville, was charged in Western on Sept. 15 with driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or greater. 

• Thomas C. Bettis, 41, of Canastota, was charged in Lenox on Sept. 14 with third-degree tampering. 

• Three teenagers, ages 14, 15 and 15, from Herkimer and Newport, were charged in Newport this month with third-degree obscenity. 

• Colin Chesebro, 20, of Rome, was charged in Verona on Sept. 12 with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. 

• Brett A. Smith, 40, of Verona, was charged in Rome on Sept. 11 with public lewdness. 

• A 13-year-old from Blossvale was charged in Ava on Sept. 12 with one count of second-degree aggravated harassment. 

• Jonathan E. Flike, 33, of Remsen, was charged in Russia on Sept. 10 with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree possession of a weapon. 

• Two 17-year-olds from Remsen were charged on Sept. 10 in Remsen with one count each of second-degree menacing. 

• Carl E. Ellsworth, 38, of Durhamville, was charged on Sept. 10 in Verona with third-degree mischief and in Sullivan with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance. 

• Talia N. Gerez, 29, of Fresh Meadows, was charged in Verona on Sept. 10 with second-degree trespass, fourth-degree mischief and false personation.
