ROME — Members of the Common Council will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Caucus Room on the second floor at City Hall to discuss public safety and the creation of Citizen Action Committees.

Third Ward Councilor Kimberly Rogers said the purpose of the meeting is to give an overview to all councilors of the key items discussed during the special public safety meeting held Oct. 20 during which members of the community voiced their concerns about increased crime in the city, including break-ins and robberies.

During the Oct. 26 Common Council meeting, local business owners and residents voiced their outrage over crime in the city, including the owner of Bill’s Variety who was just held up at gunpoint at his store on Oct. 22.

A Public Safety Committee meeting open to the community is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at South Rome Senior Center, 112 Ridge St.
