INLET — “An Evening with the Symphony,” featuring the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will take place Friday evening, July 29, under the huge tent by the lake at Arrowhead Park, 160 Route 28.

Now in its 23rd year, the event has become Inlet’s social event of the season, a favorite of party-goers and music enthusiasts alike.

The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m., immediately following a fundraising cocktail party at the Woods Inn. This year’s guest conductor is Matthew Kraemer who has come to Inlet with the RPO for many years now. He has become a local favorite and helps to choose music that he knows this audience will appreciate.

Included in the program will be several numbers by John Williams such as “The Cowboys Overture” and the theme from “Superman.” For the classical music lovers, there will be Dvorak’s “Carnival Overture” and Berlioz’s “Roman Carnival Overture.”

As usual, the concert will feature several patriotic numbers, including “God Bless America,” sung by guest vocalist Jeffery McGhee, and the Sousa march “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

In case you don’t get your fill of patriotic music on Friday, the 10th Mountain Division Army Band will be appearing under the tent in a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31.

Seating will begin at 1:30 and is not reserved. Their program will focus on patriotic numbers and will include many popular favorites. One of the most stirring pieces will be “This My Country” with the Gettysburg Address narration. Another crowd pleaser is “Climb to Glory” by Billy Ray Cyrus.

Of course, the “Armed Forces Salute” that honors all branches of service will have servicemen standing on their feet. For marches, the band has chosen the “Washington Post March,” and they will close with the “Stars and Stripes” March.

Both events are brought to you by The Fulton Chain of Lakes Performing Arts Council.

Purchase tickets for the Symphony concert at the Town of Webb Visitors Center, the Inlet Town Hall, or online at www.EveningWiththeSymphony.com. Tickets will also be available the day of the event at the Will Call tent with cash or check only.

Tickets for the fundraising cocktail party at the Woods Inn and concert are $125 and are available until July 25. Concert only tickets are $35, $20 for ages 19 and under, and lawn seats (outside the tent and only available the night of the concert) are $10.
