Cocaine seized in Rome, man charged
ROME — A Rome man was found with a bag of cocaine after he was pulled over on South Madison Street on Tuesday, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said Brian M. Wilkes, 58, of Rome, was spotted driving in the city on Tuesday, and officers knew he had an open bench warrant from Rome City Court. Police said Wilkes was pulled over in a parking lot on South Madison Street and he was taken into custody on the warrant.
A tied baggie corner of cocaine was found after a search of his vehicle and person, authorities stated. Wilkes is charged with one count of seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
