Class of 1956 to gather for 66-year reunion
ROME — Members of the Rome Free Academy Class of 1956 will hold its 66-year reunion with events planned on Friday, Aug. 12, and Saturday, Aug. 13. The class was unable to hold a 65th reunion because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s festivities will feature an afternoon get-together from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at DeMatteo’s, 705 E. Dominick St. Dining will be on the restaurant’s outdoor patio and include sandwiches, macaroni salad, chips and a cash bar. The cost is $10 per person.
A buffet dinner will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Toccolana Club, 1412 E. Dominick St. In addition to the buffet, there will be music by DVD the Band as well as a cash bar.
The cost is $20 per person.
There are a pair of optional events during the day on Friday. Members of the class can enjoy a visit to Fort Stanwix National Monument, which opens at 9 a.m. Classmates can also enjoy a walk or bike ride during the day along the Mohawk River Trail, according to event organizers.
Reservations can be made before Monday, July 25, with checks made payable to Bud Fiore and mailed to 602 Lynwood St., Rome, NY 13440.
The members of the Reunion Committee are: Bud Fiore, Dolores Malorzo Ferlo, Geno Gizzi, Frank Cook, Marie Lorusso Rossi, Dolores Perez Vandresar, and Jeannette Reid.
