Mayor Jaqueline M. Izzo and Rome City Schools Superintendent Peter C. Blake have extended the property tax and school district tax payment deadline from April 30 to May 31.
Both said the extension is due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic and the financial challenges several community members still face.
“We realize taxpayers face many economic difficulties at this time, especially landlords who are not able to collect their full rental payments,” said Izzo and Blake in a joint statement. “So we hope the extension of the April tax payment to May will help ease the tax burden as we work our way through the coronavirus pandemic,” the pair’s statement added.
Residents can send their property tax payments to the Rome City Treasurer’s Office, Rome City Hall, 198 N. Washington St., Rome, NY 13440 or they can also be dropped in the night depository on the north side of City Hall by 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1.
Payments can also be made online at www.romenewyork.com.
