Cinema screens Oscar nominee ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’
ROME — Cinema Capitol, 230 W. Dominick St., will screen “The Banshees of Inisherin,” nominated for nine Oscar awards, starting Friday, Jan. 27.
The film will be shown Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3:45 and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 29 at 12:45 and 4 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. It will also be shown Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3:45 and 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 5 at 12:45 and 4 p.m., and Monday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, “The Banshees of Inisherin” — nominated for nine Oscars — follows lifelong friends Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson), who find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly puts an end to their friendship.
A stunned Pádraic, aided by his sister Siobhán (Kerry Condon) and troubled young islander Dominic (Barry Keoghan), endeavours to repair the relationship, refusing to take no for an answer.
But Pádraic’s repeated efforts only strengthen his former friend’s resolve and when Colm delivers a desperate ultimatum, events swiftly escalate, with shocking consequences.
