Christmas Eve Mass in New Hartford Friday

NEW HARTFORD — Christ the King Anglican Mission will host a Christmas Eve Mass at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24 at the Messiah Congregation Church, 3810 Oneida St.

Bishop Dan Herzog will officiate, and all may attend.

Started in 2021, Christ the King Anglican Mission is a small fellowship of loving and caring people from the greater Utica area. The congregation shares the building of the Messiah Congregation, since they meet on Saturdays and at the mission meet on Sundays. A large sign at the street highlights Messiah Congregation, and a smaller sign highlights Christ the King parish.

The church is a congregation of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word, part of the Anglican Church in North America, but they welcome all people, regardless of church background or of no church background. They provide a biblical, liturgical way to follow Jesus Christ and grow in Him as we all learn together.

The Book of Common Prayer is used in worship services. An ancient book, the prayer book provides parishioners with a well-rounded worship experience, including the reading of God's Word and sermon, intercessory prayers (praying for people, church, government, and world), and Holy Communion (receiving the consecrated bread and wine of the Last Supper of Jesus).

Those who attend for worship will receive a prayer book and hymnal to use, with instructions on how to find page numbers, etc.
