ANNSVILLE — A 3-year-old boy was momentarily missing out of his backyard on Creek Road in Annsville Saturday afternoon, prompting a search and rescue response, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies said the boy was playing outside with other children when he wandered off into the woods at about 2 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies said the boy’s aunt was watching the children and was gone for only a brief time when she went inside the residence to grab some items.

By the time she came back outside, the boy was gone, authorities stated. The aunt called 911 at 2:10 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office and other rescue personnel responded to the scene. They immediately began a search and started conducting interviews.

Shortly thereafter, the boy walked back out of the woods, deputies said.

The boy was evaluated at the scene and was found to be in good health, having suffered no injuries, authorities stated. He was returned to his family and no criminal charges were filed.
