UTICA – The Central New York Conservancy announces a schedule change impacting its free lecture series “Get Ready for Spring with Master Gardener Mike Mahanna.”

Due to the weather on the March 4 and unforeseen circumstances on March 11 (the originally scheduled dates), two topics will now be covered on Saturday, March 18. A container gardening presentation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and a landscape design presentation is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

People can come for both or just one. The lectures will be held at the Central New York Conservancy community room at 1641 Genesee Street, Utica, NY and are free of charge.

The Container Gardening lecture will include information about how to create the right container planting for specific micro-environments, container styles, proper soil and drainage tips, plant selection and design. The Landscape Design lecture will cover site analysis, plant selection, and design concepts along with the tips about how to use water features, garden art, and lighting (hardscapes) for maximum impact. Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions.

To register, go to the CNY Conservancy’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cnyconservancy or send an email to gpearce@uticaolmstedparks.org.
