Carfentanyl tranquilizer seized in Rome traffic stop
ROME — A 48-year-old woman was found with a quantity of carfentanyl during a traffic stop in Rome very early Monday morning, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said Regina M. Reichert, of Rome, was pulled over for a traffic violation in the 100 block of S. James Street at 1:53 a.m. Monday. Police said Reichert was driving on a revoked license, and her vehicle was searched ahead of being towed.
A hypodermic needle containing carfentanyl was found in the vehicle, police said. Carfentanyl is a powerful opioid most commonly used as a tranquilizer for large animals.
Reichert is charged with one count each of seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, police said. She is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
