ROME — The Capitol Arts Complex is celebrating Black History Month with the screening of “In the Heat of the Night” at the Capitol Theatre, 220 W. Dominick St., tonight, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 11, at 2:30 and 7 p.m.

“In the Heat of the Night” not only continues the on-going Great American Novel film series but is part of the Capitol Arts Complex’s celebration of Black History Month. Other upcoming events include the Rome Branch of the NAACP free screening of “Cool Runnings,” Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at Cinema Capitol.

In addition to the screening of “Cool Runnings,” will be a Health Fair on Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. in the cinema lobby. Also, before the screening, a short film documenting Strough Middle School students and faculty building a life-sized replica of the bus that Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat for a white person and move to the back of the bus. The bus will be on display at Strough Middle School.

Although “In the Heat of the Night” is rated for general audiences, parents and guardians should use their discretion, recognizing it may contain moments of intensity that could prove not suitable for young children. Prices are $7, $6 for seniors, students, and military, $5 for Capitol Friends, and $3 for children age 12 and younger.
