Brewfest set for return to Utica Zoo

UTICA — The annual Utica Zoo Brewfest is returning for another day of food, drinks and live entertainment.

The Brewfest will feature over 120 samples of craft beers, ciders, seltzers and wines, as well as food samples from participating vendors, a silent auction to bid on various prizes and live music from local bands Soup Bone Charley and Vinyl Logic, all while allowing people access to the zoo.

The first 3,000 attendees will also receive a commemorative pint glass.

The event is the largest annual fundraiser for the Utica Zoo, where all proceeds go directly towards taking care of the animals at the zoo.

“The budget to take care of the animals is extensive and running Brewfest is one of our ways to meet those needs,” said Andria Heath, executive director of the Utica Zoo.

“It’s a great way to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Utica Zoo in an adult atmosphere,” she added.

This year’s Brewfest will take place on Saturday, Aug 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m at the Utica Zoo, 1 Utica Zoo Way. This event is restricted to ages 21 and over, including designated drivers. Tickets, as well as a photo ID, will be required for entry.

Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the Utica Zoo, Beer Belly Bob’s Discount Beverage Center, Chanatry’s Hometown Market, City Liquors, Copper City Brewing Company and Marcy Discount Beverage Center. Advance ticket sales are $50 for general admission, $45 for Utica Zoo members and $25 for designated drivers. Tickets at the door are $55 for general admission, $50 for Utica Zoo members and $25 for designated drivers.

Free parking will be available at the Utica Zoo, but is expected to meet capacity quickly. There will be shuttle busses from the Parkway Recreation Center and Payne Hall at Mohawk Valley Community College to accommodate overflow parking.
