BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Strong first quarter fuels Notre Dame over New Hartford
With a 23-point first quarter, the Notre Dame girls basketball team took a firm hold on Sunday’s Tri-Valley League game at Herkimer College. The Jugglers won 72-50, with a triple-double from Ella Trinkaus.
Trinkaus put up 23 points, 12 rebounds and had 10 blocks. She also had six steals and three assists.
Maggie Trinkaus scored 18, had eight boards and five assists for Notre Dame and teammate Sydney Sehring scored 12.

New Hartford (7-5) plays at TVL foe Whitesboro at 7 tonight.
HP spoils Whitesboro Senior Night
The Holland Patent girls basketball team went to Whitesboro and beat the Warriors on their own Senior Night Friday, 43-26, in the TVL. The Golden Knights lost at home to Skaneateles Saturday at home, 48-32 in a non-league game.
Whitesboro led from most of the first half, until a Terra McLaughln three-pointer gave HP the 18-17 lead going into the half. McLaughlin’s 12 points and three assists led the team. Michaela Cushman scored nine points and had five rebounds. Faith Zylinsky scored nine and Kirsten Lighthall had eight. Maggie Cummings and Emily Carlson had six rebounds each to lead HP.
Whitesboro was led by Nina Steeper’s eight points.
Saturday, HP fell behind 18-7 after a quarter and could not recover. Carlson led the Knights with eight points and had five rebounds. Zylinsky had seven points and four boards. Lighthall scored six.

McLeod and Mirabelli score 20-plus in RFA win
Amya McLeod scored 23 and teammate Mia Mirabellis had 22 for the Rome Free Academy girls basketball team in a 77-46 win over Central Valley Academy at home Friday in the TVL.
Trailing 14-9 after a quarter, the Black Knights went off for 30 second quarter points and led 39-24 at the break.
Alysa Jackson added 13 points for RFA, including three three-pointers.
CVA’s Payton Lynch led the team with 12 points and Avery Rich had nine.
RFA (13-3) plays a league game at Thomas R. Proctor High School in Utica at 7 tonight.
CVA (6-8) hosts Oneida at 7 tonight in the league.
Raiders top Blue Devils
The Thomas R. Proctor High School girls basketball team overcame a slow third quarter to win 42-33 at Camden in the TVL Friday.
The Raiders led 28-18 at the half then were outscored 8-1 in the third. But they still led by three and held off the Blue Devils to win.
Proctor’s Aniya Irizzary led the team with 14 points.
Katie McCarthy led the Devils with 10 points.
Proctor (8-6) hosts RFA at 7 tonight in the league.
Camden (5-8) is at Holland Patent at 6:30 tonight in the league.
Fellows scores 25 to lead West Canada
Reese Fellows scored 25 points and grabbed 18 rebounds for a double-double in a 56-47 win at home for West Canada Valley girls basketball over Hamilton Friday. West Canada then won 64-34 at Richfield Springs Saturday.
Hanna Burdick scored 12 for West Canada.
Hamilton’s Emily Neuenschwander led her team with 21 points.
On Saturday, Burdick led the way with 24 points for West Canada. Bella Borden scored 15 and Fellows had another double-double, this time with 10 points and 14 boards.

West Canada (15-0) hosted Oriskany Monday. Results were not available at press time.
Clinton wins at home
The Clinton girls basketball team won 62-47 over visiting South Lewis Saturday in a non-league game.
The Warriors led 18-7 after a quarter.
Abby Hemstrought led Clinton with 18 points. Eva Gaetano had 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Oneida falls at home
The Oneida girls basketball team lost 48-30 at home to Westhill Friday night in non-league play.
Westhill ran out to a 14-6 first quarter lead and led the rest of the way.
Tess Roesch led Westhill with 14 points.
Myah Rainbow scored 10 and had 11 rebounds for a double-double in the loss for Oneida.
Oneida (8-6) plays at CVA at 7 tonight.
Cooperstown wins defensive battle
The Cooperstown girls basketball team got just enough offense to get past Mount Markham Sunday at Herkimer College, winning 35-30 in the Center State.
Dani Seamon had a game-high 24 for Cooperstown along with 13 rebounds for a double-double.
The Mustangs were led by Caroline Entwistle with 20 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double in the loss. Maggie Plummer also grabbed 10 boards.
Mount Markham (8-5) played at Sherburne-Earlville Monday. Results were not available at press time.
Notre Dame offense carries Jugglers
The Notre Dame boys basketball team scored 20-plus points in three of four quarters Sunday in an 81-54 win at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill in the TVL.

VVS’ Elijiah Donegan led the Red Devils with 18 points and had eight rebounds. Atticus Roque scored 12 and had six rebounds. Paradis Degaragen had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Notre Dame (4-9) plays at CVA at 7 p.m. Thursday in the league.
VVS (4-11) hosts RFA at 7 Friday in the TVL.
Late surge for West Canada seals the win
The West Canada Valley boys basketball team led host Beaver River by four going into the fourth quarter Saturday then the offense made a big push with 24 points to seal a 70-50 Center State win.

Beaver River’s Matthew Knight had a team-high 15 points and seven rebounds.
West Canada (10-5) plays at Poland at 7:30 tonight in the league.
Four score in double digits in F-S win
Frankfort-Schuyler got double-digit scoring for four players in a 71-39 win over visiting Adirondack Saturday in the Center State.
Lionell Coulthurst led the team with 17 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double in the win. Joshua Stemmer also had a double-double, with 11 points and 10 boards. Angelo DeSarro scored 14 and had eight assists. Roman Harrod contributed 12 points.
Adirondack’s Bailey Gleasman had a team-high 14 points.
Frankfort (8-8) hosts Dolgeville at 7 tonight in the league.
Adirondack (3-10) hosts Little Falls at 7 tonight in the league.
Comeback win for Dolgeville
Dolgeville boys basketball erased a late six-point deficit to defeat host Herkimer 62-60 Friday in the Center State.
Michael Blaskey scored 22 for Dolgeville and TJ Rankins added 14. Kamryn Comstock scored eight and had 13 rebounds, five assists and five blocks.

Williams scores 21 in Webb victory
Alex Williams put up 21 points in a 55-43 road win for Town of Webb at Poland Friday in the Center State.
Jordan Stokes added 16 points and six boards in the win.
Poland’s Carter Cookinham led the team with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Town of Webb (6-9) hosts Remsen at 7 tonight in the league.

RFA JVs defeat CVA
The RFA girls junior varsity basketball team beat CVA 37-21 Friday.
Sage Andrews led RFA with nine points and had five rebounds. Natalia Dipaolo scored eight points.
Westmo modified wins
The Westmoreland seventh grade boys basketball team got a 38-20 win against Canastota Saturday.
Sean Acee led Westmoreland with 17 points. Johnny Jasewicz scored nine and Owen Smith added eight.
