Art show features works from local teachers, students
CLINTON — The Madison-Oneida BOCES Art Professional Learning Group (PLG) opened its eighth annual “Art: The Common Thread” teacher-student exhibit Saturday, March 4, at the Kirkland Town Library, 55 1/2 College St.
The show features artworks by PLG member teachers and selected student artists from their schools. Since its inception, the exhibit has focused on celebrating art teachers’ dual roles as artists and educators and help highlight some of their students’ work. The showcase was organized by Clinton High School art teacher Mindy Pavone, who facilitates the PLG, a program of the MOBOCES Staff and Curriculum Development division and the Mid-State Teacher Center.
This year’s show features the works of 19 teachers and their students from 10 school districts:
- Clinton: Teachers Mindy Pavone, Lynn Hall; students Keira Rowe, Lydia Hepler.
- Hamilton: Teachers Tori Kowalski, Denise Whalen; students Ethan Hanmer, Hazel Harnik.
- Morrisville-Eaton: Teacher Kelly Holmes; student Ariel Schlotzhauer.
- Oneida BOCES: Teachers Renee Andre, Judi Russell, Brett Rewakowski; students Anthony Shephard, Niko Rodriguez, Gianna VanDusen.
- Oneida: Teachers Heather Cigeroglu, Tracie McLain, Lisa Billington; students Jerry Pinkard, McKenzie Mason, Syrriah Alexander;
- Sherburne-Earlville: Teacher Kayleigh Olive; student Trinity Thornton.
- Stockbridge Valley: Teachers Kristin Thomas, Mary Beth Maguire; students Avery Ellerbruch, Scott Josephs.
- Vernon-Verona-Sherrill: Teacher Melissa Moore; student Mia Ward.
- Whitesboro: Teachers Kelly Wander, Christina Davis, Owen Williams; students Shelby West, Madeline Clancy, Edith Hubbard.
- Utica: Teacher Christina Hopkins; student Alexandria Campion.
