AmeriCU hosts chapter dinner at Yahnundasis
UTICA — AmeriCU Credit Union hosted the New York Credit Union (NYCUA) Utica-Rome Chapter Dinner earlier this month at the Yahnundasis Golf Club.
Nearly 70 employees and volunteers from various credit unions in the Utica-Rome area joined together for a 2023 economic outlook. In the collaborative spirit of not only credit unions, but our community at large, the presentation was delivered by representatives from the Greater Utica, Rome, and Herkimer chambers of commerce.
“This is a great opportunity to discuss opportunities and concerns impacting our economy,” says Kari Puleo, executive director of Greater Utica Chamber. “By being involved in these discussions, we aim to offer a lasting positive impact on our local community.”
Being in the financial services industry, credit unions are attuned to shifting economic environments, officials said, adding that during the chapter dinner, credit union leaders and board members discussed the current economy and shared their knowledge.
“Collaboration between competitors is second nature for credit unions,” says Ron Belle, AmeriCU president and CEO. “Working together helps us identify new opportunities and resources that are mutually beneficial.”
The NYCUA has 11 chapters statewide, each of which plays an important role in promoting cooperation among credit unions at the local level. Each of the chapters is led by a volunteer council, which provides networking opportunities, advances community efforts and raises awareness about the credit union difference.
