Posted

As  severe weather began to roll in to the region Friday afternoon, the following notices were released:

- All Oneida County offices and courts are closing at noon today (Friday, Dec. 23) due to anticipated severe  winter weather, according to officials. In addition, Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. has issued a travel advisory effective immediately due to inclement winter weather conditions. Avoid unnecessary travel as roads will remain potentially hazardous due to Winter Storm Elliot. The travel advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.

-  Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood issued a travel advisory for Madison County, beginning at 11:00 AM today (December 23, 2022) until 3 p.m.  This is due to flash freezing and the potential for icy roads, especially secondary roads.  This travel advisory does not restrict travel, but urges motorists to limit driving due to hazardous conditions.  If you are on the roads please take extreme caution, give yourself extra time to arrive at your destination and plenty of room to stop when approaching intersections and other vehicles.  This advisory will be updated if needed.

“We want to remind people to be cautious,” said Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood.  “If you do not have to go anywhere then stay home.  If you do go out on the roads make sure you give yourself plenty of time and give the plow trucks plenty of space.  We want everyone to get to their destinations safely and that includes you, our plow truck drivers and our first responders.”

- In Utica, All Munson-Williams offices and the Museum of Art will close at noon today ahead of forecasted inclement weather. Munson-Williams is also closed Dec. 24 and 25. The showings of the film “Love Actually” at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. are canceled.

- All Oswego County buildings and offices are closed as of 1 p.m. today, Dec. 23 due to inclement weather. This includes the walk-in flu clinic scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the Oswego County Health Department, 70 Bunner St., Oswego. The flu clinic scheduled for Monday, Dec. 26 is canceled due to the Christmas holiday. The next walk-in flu clinic will be held Friday, Dec. 30 from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. County buildings and offices will return to normal schedules on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
