Accused bicycle thief charged in Rome
ROME — A 25-year-old man has been charged with stealing a bicycle from outside the Rome Rescue Mission, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said a $200 bicycle was stolen from in front of the Rome Rescue Mission on East Dominick Street at about 1 p.m. Sept. 23. Police said they checked the building's security cameras and identified Steven Westcott, 25, of Rome, as the thief.
A warrant was issued for Westcott and he was located and charged on Jan. 20 with petty larceny, authorities said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
