NEW HARTFORD — A 71-year-old woman has died following a three-vehicle crash on Route 5 in New Hartford Friday evening, according to the New Hartford Police Department.

Police said Marcia Pritchard, 71, of Clark Mills, was eastbound on Route 5 at about 5:45 p.m. Nov. 18 when her vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane, where it crashed head-on with a westbound vehicle driven by Pamela Merriman, 61, of Rome. A third vehicle, traveling westbound behind Merriman, was unable to stop in time and also collided with the other two, police stated.

The crash occurred just west of the Applewood and Cherrywood communities.

Pritchard suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Police said she died from her injuries on Sunday.

Merriman and her passenger, William Merriman, 61, were treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries, police stated. The driver of the third vehicle, Steven Raymond, 51, of Cazenovia, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
