PLAINFIELD — A 3-year-old Rome girl was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Otsego County Wednesday night, according to the New York State Police. The identity of the child has not yet been released.

State police said a family of seven from Rome was driving on Frost Hill Road in Plainfield shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday when their 2004 Ford Expedition went off the roadway, crashed into an embankment and overturned. Plainfield is located just south of the town of West Winfield.

The 3-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries, troopers said.

Two adults and four other children were taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica for treatment. Those who survived were a 42-year-old male, a 28-year-old female, a 6-year-old male, a 3-year-old male, a 1-year-old female and a 3-month-old female, troopers stated.

The crash remains under investigation.
