Oneida's third annual Light Fight has turned the city into a spooky place perfect for Halloween.
A colorful carpet of peak foliage abounds in Annsville near the Kessinger Dam in this aerial view taken by helicopter on Wednesday. The dam, off of Boyd Road, impounds water from the East Branch of Fish Creek, which originates in Lewis County where the Sixmile and Sevenmile creeks converge, about 10 miles west of Lyons Falls. The Kessinger Dam, completed in 1909, provides part of the water supply for the city of Rome as impounded water is diverted through a mile-long tunnel and a 7-mile pipeline to city reservoirs. The gorge, whose walls extend upwards of 70 feet, was carved out during the last Ice Age, according to geologists.
