OSCEOLA — Sunday Amanda Hayden of Auburn will play a free concert of old time fiddle music, from 2-5 p.m. at the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame and Museum, 1121 Comins Road.
The concert is funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
There is no concert Aug. 19.
Originally from Poughkeepsie, Amanda Hayden is a 2010 graduate from the Crane School of Music in Potsdam. She was a founding member of the Strawberry Hill Fiddlers, touring from New York to Minneapolis. She has been a guest artist with The Susquehanna String Band on several occasions, and has participated in the Ashokan Fiddle and Dance camp for the past four years. Amanda teaches elementary music in the Union Springs Central School district and fiddling classes at Cayuga Community College.
In addition to her concert, Hayden is also the instructor for NYSOTFA’s 10th annual Kids’ Kamp, Saturday and Sunday, where she will teach fiddling to a group of youngsters some brand new to fiddling and others who have previously attended Kids’ Kamp or taken fiddle lessons.
