Bruce S. Allen, 63, of W. Oak St., Rome, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at his home with his loving family at his side under the care of Hospice.
He was born on February 18, 1949, in Moira, New York, the son of Gordon and Genevieve McCarthy Allen. He was a high school graduate in Belleville, New Jersey.
On September 4, 1971, Bruce was united in marriage to Marlene Closson in Malta, New York.
He was employed by the Indium Corporation in Clinton for several years, retiring in 2011. Bruce was previously employed by Keene Aluminum and the Rome Cable Corp.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hitting the links with his golfing buddies.
Bruce was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Surviving besides his loving wife of forty years, Marlene; are a daughter, Kim Tophoven, of Westmoreland; two cherished grandsons, Devon and Dylan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Darlene Allen, Jr., of Tampa, FL, and Doug and Marie Allen, of Florida; three brothers-in-law, Paul Duffey, and John Molyneaux, both of PA, and Don Schara, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Bruce was predeceased by four sisters, Sharon, Marjorie, Carol, and Esther.
Bruce’s family wishes to express their gratitude to all of their many friends, Dr. Butala and his staff, the 6th Floor at St. Luke’s Healthcare, and Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., for their loving support.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Potter Rd., Rome. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
Contributions may be made in Bruce’s memory to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., or the Rome Humane Society.
