REMSEN — Richard F. Davies, 105, formerly of Maple Ave., passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. Richard was born at Sixty Corners, Town of Steuben, on July 9, 1907, a son of Alwyn J. Davies and Carrie B. Haney Davies. He married Gladys E. Pugh on October 9, 1931. Mrs. Davies preceded him in death on April 30, 2001. He spent most of his working life in various milk plants in Middleville, Leonardsville, Auburn, Richfield Springs, Hartwick and Remsen. While living in Middleville, Mr. Davies was a member of the E.W. Cory Hose Co.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and James Drews of Palmyra, NY; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Jeanette Davies, Sun City, AZ, and Robert and Sylvia Davies, of Remsen; six grandchildren, Anne (Ray) Williams, of Sun City, AZ; Donna McCullough, Lawrence, KS; John Davies, Eudora, KS; Jeffrey Murray, Palmyra, NY; Dean Murray, Macedon, NY; and James (Kimberley) Wilder, Remsen, NY; and five great-grandchildren, Patrick Murray, Jennifer Murray, Jaclyn McCullough, Dane McCullough, and Travis Wilder. Richard was predeceased by two brothers, Lewis and Elton.
Richard’s family wishes to express their sincere thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the kind and compassionate care they gave to Mr. Davies.
Services will be in Steuben Corners Cemetery, on Saturday, August 4, at 1 p.m. There are no calling hours.
