Thomas L. Norton, MSHCA, has been appointed director of cardiac services at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
In announcing the appointment, Richard H. Ketcham, FACHE, President/CEO of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, said Norton would also serve as co-coordinator for the Mohawk Valley Heart Institute (MVHI).
MVHI is a collaborative program with Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare. The Heart Institute provides a comprehensive array of adult cardiac services, including cardiac catheterizations, electrophysiology, coronary angioplasty, cardiac surgery and cardiac rehabilitation.
Norton received a master of science degree in management healthcare administration from Wilmington University, Delaware and a bachelor of arts degree in communication from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining St. Elizabeth Medical Center, he was director of heart and vascular services with Community Health Systems, Wilkes Barre General Hospital, an affiliate of Commonwealth Health System, Wilkes Barre, Pa.
Norton brings a variety of healthcare experiences and expertise. His affiliations include: the American College of Cardiovascular Administrators and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
He and his wife, Jessica are parents of two children, Sophie, 11, and Theodore, 9. They will be relocating to New Hartford.
MVHI provides open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, and electrophysiology at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and cardiac catheterization, angioplasty and outpatient cardiac rehabilitation at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare.
