Bette J. Herrman, 85, of Old Floyd Road, Rome, passed away at her residence on Friday, July 13, 2012.
She was born May 22, 1927, in Utica, the daughter of Edward and Catherine Hartman Deering.
Bette was a graduate of Utica Schools.
She was employed at Marcy Psychiatric Center for over twenty years.
Bette was a member of St. Leo’s Church, Holland Patent and in additon was a member of 50 years for the Floyd Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxilliary, the Stittville VFW, the Leon R. Roberts Post 161 American Legion, Holland Patent where she served as Chaplain for several years and the Rome Moose Lodge.
Surviving are one daughter, Kathleen Smith, Floyd; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Herrman, Rochester; Stephen Herrman, Holland Patent; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Isabella Bregnard, Utica; Rosemary and Donald Conklin, Bluff City, Tennessee; one brother, William Deering, Sidney, New York; six grandchildren, Christopher Herrman and spouse Judy Tandog-Herrman, Megan Hammer, Arron, Daniel, Matthew and Amber Herrman; and three great-grandchildren, Mateo, Broderic and Allison. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sybilynn Smith, and a sister, Mary Deering.
A Memorial Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo’s Church. Interment Floyd Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
