A 57-year-old man has been charged with shoving his female companion into a chair during a domestic dispute on North Madison Street.

Police said John A. Mehl, of 305 N. Madison St., shoved his 45-year-old companion into the chair and would not let her leave during a dispute at about 8 p.m. Sunday. In a statement to police, the victim said she got up to go to the store and Mehl pushed her back down.

Mehl is charged with second-degree imprisonment and second-degree harassment, police stated. He was released on his own recognizance in City Court on Monday. He is scheduled to reappear on July 11.
