Two hospitalized after morning crash

TOWN OF TRENTON — Two women remain hospitalized this morning after a two-vehicle collision on Route 365 Sunday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies said Erica A. Holovitz, 22, of Ilion, pulled onto Route 365 from South Side Road at about 10:10 a.m., only for her vehicle to be struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Michael Briere, 50, of Indiana.

Responding firefighters used hydraulic tools to cut Holovitz free, and authorities said she had to be air-lifted to University Hospital in Syracuse. Holovitz is in good condition this morning, medical officials said.

Passenger Sandra M. Foti, 50, of Herkimer, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, where hospital officials said she is in serious condition.

Authorities said Briere and passenger Helene Doucet, 51, also of Indiana, were not injured. The accident remains under investigation.
